Race Season Overview

REGULAR SEASON

The Varsity team competes head-to-head each race with the 11 teams in our conference.  Races will either be Giant Slalom or Slalom, based on the schedule.  Six boys and six girls varsity skiers compete at each race, with the top four scores counting for the team's performance.  JV skiers compete on an individual basis at each race.  A maximum of six boys and six girls will race [4 each for Slalom and 6 each for GS].  A minimum of four racers must compete and score for team results to count.

Twenty total skiers compete at each race, but all team members are required to attend to help out, cheer on and in the event of any last minute line-up changes / subs needed.  Regular season races are single discipline per day with Slalom typically running on Tuesdays and GS running on Thursdays at Mt Brighton.

Head-to-Head Scoring:  Each race, NHS competes against one team head-to-head in addition to competing against all teams overall.  In the H2H, all six times count vs only top four counting to the overall team score.  Among the two teams, the top time gets 1 point, and so on for all 12 racers.  Lowest overall score wins the H2H.

In our conference [MBHSSA], weekly scores are tallied throughout the season - and the team with the least amount of points is the conference champion.  Top performing skiers are also awarded at the end of the regular season.

Teams: Birmingham United, Brighton, Catholic Central/Mercy, CCPA, Farmington United, Howell, Northville, Okemos, Saline/Chelsea, South Lyon, U of D Jesuit
